Pune: In a surprising move, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) completed the road widening work of the Hadapsar-Kharadi road on August 18 (Friday) to permanently ease the huge traffic flow.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Vikas Dhakane, Additional Municipal Commissioner, PMC said, “One of the major road issues, pending for several years due to land acquisition near Mundhwa-Keshav Nagar Chowk has been resolved now as the road widening work of Hadapsar-Kharadi road is completed. The road has become 24 meters wide now. Hence, people travelling from Hadapsar to Nagar road and also various other areas won’t have to face traffic issues at all.”

As per information, for 30-odd years, because of the issue of land acquisition near Mundhwa-Keshav Nagar Chowk and due to encroachment issue, the citizens were suffering from heavy traffic congestion 100 to 200 meters near and beyond this main patch on Hadapsar-Kharadi road. However, the PMC started secret preparations to widen it almost two months before this time. The police, officials from the encroachment department and the road department of the PMC planned this without giving any hints to anyone. Accordingly, at 11 pm on August 18 (Friday), the PMC started its work, removed the encroachments and completed the 24-meter-wide road during night time. Hence, one more lane has become available for traffic in this intersection. This proactive work by the PMC will surely reduce traffic bottlenecks and congestion on the Hadapsar-Kharadi road.
