Pune RTO takes action against ambulance owners for overcharging patients

Pune Regional Transport Authority had put capping on the rates of ambulance services in view of the Covid 19 pandemic where the demand for for ambulance services is high. Even after the capping announced by RTO Pune on the ambulance service charges, two ambulance owners had flouted the rules in the month of July 2020. Also, the RTO Pune had informed the ambulance owners to display the rates in the ambulance, which they have failed to do so.
Two complaints were registered at the Pune RTO against vehicles MH 12 DT 3158 (Maruti Omni Ambulance) and MH 14 CW – 0513(Traveler Cardiac Ambulance) of overcharging the patients above the standard rates which were announced by the authorities. These complaints were sent to Pune District Collector who took action against these ambulance owners and took into custody their vehicles. Further the ambulance owners shall be fined and cases shall be registered against them under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Ajit Shinde from Regional Transport Authority informed that if patients come across such overcharging issues by ambulance service providers they can register the complaints with the RTO, Pune immediately so that further action can be taken.
