Ajit Pawar reviews construction work of Pune Metro
Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar on Friday, September 18, 2020 reviewed the ongoing construction work of Pune Metro.
Ajit Pawar is in Pune to attend the weekly review meeting on Covid-19 which is held on every Friday. Pawar visited the construction site of Pune Metro in the early hours of Friday morning alongwith the Metro officials.
Pawar visited the Phugewadi station and took stock of the progress on construction work. The meeting was held at 5.30 am today which stunned many Nationalist Congress Party workers from the twin town.
The work for Pune MEtro was expected to start with its first five km stretch by April 2020 but the deadline was missed due to the lockdown which hampered the work.

Pune Metro project comprising two routes of 32 kms had begun in December 2016 and was expected to finish by the 2022 end.
The Maha Metro Rail Corporation had resumed the work in May this year after receiving permissions from the state government and both the Municipal bodies.

Today’s meeting with Ajit Pawar was attended by Brijesh Dixit, Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation and senior officials of the Pune Metro. Pawar took survey of the Sant Tukaram Nagar – Pimpri (Kharalwadi) route which he started at 6 am from Phugewadi, wherein he conducted the survey through the Metro operators cabin. Pawar also inspected Civil Court, Nal Stop, Lakdi pul, Swargate work of the Pune Metro. This function also had the formal inauguration of the machine which is being used to dig up tunnels. Gautam Birhade, Sarla Kulkarni gave information about the work to the people present for the survey.
