In a moment of pride for the farmers of Junnar taluka, the famous “Shivneri Hapus” mango has been awarded the Geographical Indication (GI) tag. Known for its exquisite sweetness and unique flavor, this variety of Alphonso mango has captured the hearts of mango lovers across the globe.
The GI recognition is a significant milestone for the region, as it ensures global acknowledgment of the traditional taste and quality nurtured by the farmers of Shivneri, the birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Expressing his joy, Shirur constituency Member of Parliament Dr Amol Kolhe shared, “It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction to contribute to this cause as a servant of Shivneri.
