Pune- The primary education department will send show cause notices to schools that start classes before 9 AM, ignoring the government order stating that classes up to grade 5 should be held at or after 9 AM.

At a program held on December 5, 2023, Governor Ramesh Bais directed the school education department to reconsider the morning session school timings. Subsequently, a government resolution was issued to all schools, regardless of board affiliation, mandating classes for pre-primary to grade 4 to start at 9 AM or later, beginning from the academic year 2024-25.

Although some schools modified their timings after consulting with parents and school transportation providers, authorities noted that many schools continued with the old schedule. A school principal from Pune mentioned that it’s challenging to abruptly change class timings as it requires coordination with teaching staff, school transportation, and autos.
