Pune: Six Shop Owners Booked For Selling Counterfeit Apple Accessories In Budhwar Peth, Goods Worth ₹10.39 Lakh Seized
Pune Police have cracked down on the illegal sale of counterfeit Apple mobile accessories in the busy Budhwar Peth area, booking six shopkeepers after conducting coordinated raids at multiple commercial premises. Fake Apple products valued at ₹10.39 lakh were recovered during the operation.
The case was registered at Faraskhana Police Station following a complaint filed by Vijay Yashwant Sagelkar (50), a resident of Bandra, Mumbai, who is an authorised representative of Apple Inc. Sagelkar works closely with the company to detect and act against individuals involved in manufacturing, storing, and selling counterfeit Apple products. He has received specialised training from Apple to identify fake accessories that closely imitate genuine ones.
Acting on specific inputs about the sale of counterfeit Apple accessories at Samarth Plaza Building and the Adorn Business Centre in Budhwar Peth, the police formed a joint team and carried out simultaneous raids at several shops in the area.
The operation was led by PSI Jadhav under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police Krushikesh Rawale. Officers from Faraskhana Police Station, including PSI Santosh Gore, who is handling the investigation, also took part in the action.
During the raids, police seized a wide range of fake Apple accessories, including iPhone batteries, logo-branded back panels, USB power adapters, USB cables, ear pods, headphones, MagSafe power adapters, and mobile covers. The counterfeit goods were recovered from six shops — Prem Telecom, Raj Telecom Shop, Om Rajeshwar Shop, Raj Sales, Hira Mobile Spares, and Goyal Mobile.
The accused have been identified as Kasnaram Ghigaji Chaudhary (25), Mukesh Purikaran Purigoswami (29), Manish Karmiram Choudhary (37), Jogsingh Rupsingh Rajput (35), Hiteshkumar Magharam Purohit (25), and Rajeshchandra Krishnachandra Goyal (60), all residents of different parts of Pune.
In total, counterfeit Apple products worth ₹10,39,700 were confiscated during the raids. Police have registered cases against all six shopkeepers and are continuing further investigation to determine the source of the fake accessories and whether a larger network is involved.
