Pune Sizzles Under Heatwave: Lohgaon Records 42.9°C, Highest This Season – IMD Predicts Cloudy Skies and Possible Relief from Monday
Pune experienced sweltering temperatures on Friday, with several areas crossing the 40°C mark. Lohgaon was the hottest spot in the city, recording a blistering 42.9°C — the highest temperature of the day.
Shivajinagar followed with 40.5°C, while Pashan and Magarpatta reported 40.4°C and 40°C respectively. Chinchwad wasn’t far behind, touching 39.2°C.
Lavale, though relatively cooler at 38.8°C, faced severe discomfort due to 100% relative humidity, making the heat feel even more intense.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has advised citizens to avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours and stay hydrated to prevent heat-related illnesses. There may be some respite ahead — the IMD forecasts partly cloudy skies beginning Monday, April 21, which could bring marginal relief from the scorching conditions.
