Pune: A comparative examination of road accidents in Maharashtra during 2022 and 2023 reveals that the highest number of accidents involves two-wheelers and pedestrians.

As per the information, approximately 70 to 80 per cent of these incidents exclusively involve two-wheelers and pedestrians.

Under Section 194D of the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, individuals who violate or fail to comply with regulations regarding helmet usage are subject to fines.

The Pimpri Chinchwad RTO has taken the initiative of distributing awareness notices about helmet usage in private offices, schools, colleges, and various government establishments.

Additionally, awareness sessions have been conducted to emphasize the importance of wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle, using various examples and presentations.

It has been observed that the number of two-wheeler riders involved in fatal accidents in Pune surpasses that of other vehicles.

The Department of Transportation is diligently working to reduce this number. Various methods are being employed to encourage people to wear helmets while travelling on two-wheelers.
