Pune: Suspended PSI Pramod Chintamani Booked For ₹93 Lakh Investment Fraud
Pune, November 27, 2025: A suspended Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) from Pimpri-Chinchwad Police has been booked for allegedly running a large-scale investment scam amounting to ₹93 lakh. The Bhosari Police Station has shared preliminary details of the investigation.
According to officials, the complainant, Santosh Balkrishna Tarte (43), a resident of Rahatani, submitted a complaint on November 12, 2025, alleging that suspended PSI Pramod Chintamani had cheated him under the guise of lucrative investment returns. Police initiated an immediate inquiry considering the seriousness of the allegations.
The investigation revealed that Chintamani, along with two associates — auto-rickshaw driver Goraksh Prakash Med from Sangavi and real estate agent Sandeep Ahir from Bhosari — collected money from multiple individuals. All three have been booked under Sections 316(2), 318(4), 336(2), 338, 336(3), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Fraud Modus Operandi
In 2023, Chintamani allegedly persuaded the complainant to invest ₹18 lakh with a promise to double the amount within 20 months. However, he returned only ₹15.40 lakh and withheld the remaining ₹20.60 lakh.
During the inquiry, more victims emerged, revealing similar patterns of deceit:
- ₹40 lakh – Anand Pingale
- ₹5 lakh – Shantaram Bhondwe
- ₹5 lakh – Ganesh Kharge
- ₹10 lakh – Bismillah Shaikh
- ₹5 lakh – Sheetal Patil
- ₹5 lakh – Bapusaheb Khengare
Victims stated they were lured with promises of doubling their money or receiving monthly returns of 4%. In all, the accused allegedly collected ₹93 lakh but failed to honour the promised payouts.
Police suspect more citizens may have been defrauded, and the total fraud amount is likely to rise as the investigation progresses. The case is currently being probed by Bhosari Police under the supervision of senior officers.
