In a swift and efficient operation, Pune police apprehended seven individuals involved in the armed robbery of BJS Jewellers, a gold and silver shop located in Mohammadwadi, Hadapsar. The robbery, which took place at around 12:10 pm on May 18, 2024, saw the thieves make off with approximately 300 grams of ready-made gold after threatening the shop’s staff with weapons.

The suspects, identified as Sunny alias Yogesh Hiraman Pawle (20), Sunny alias Aditya Raju Gande (19), Piyush Kalpesh Kedari (18), Omkar alias Omya Jagan Walhekar (19), Narayan alias Naru Balu Gawli (20), Mayur Chunnilal Patel (53), and Nasir Mehmud Shaikh (32), were captured within 12 hours of the crime. The police managed to track down and arrest the robbers using confidential informants and technical analysis.

Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar had directed an intensive investigation, leading to the formation of 10 special teams. These teams included officers from the Anti-Extortion Squad, Robbery and Vehicle Theft Squad, and various crime branch units. Their coordinated efforts culminated in the recovery of stolen gold weighing 601.15 grams, along with 2 two-wheelers, 1 four-wheeler, and 6 mobile phones, amounting to a total value of Rs 48.3 lakh.

DCP (Crime) Amol Zende commended the rapid and thorough investigation by the police teams, noting that the accused had meticulously planned the heist 15 days prior. The quick resolution of this case underscores the Pune City Police’s commitment to maintaining law and order and protecting its citizens.
