Pune: TCS Employee Sleeps Outside Hinjawadi Office Over Unpaid Salary; IT Firm Responds
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has issued a statement after a photo of one of its employees sleeping on a footpath outside the Pune office went viral on social media. The employee, identified as Sourabh More, claimed he was forced to sleep outside due to non-payment of salary.
The incident sparked widespread attention after images showed More lying on the pavement next to a handwritten letter. The note stated: “I have informed HR I don’t have money and will be forced to sleep and live outside TCS on the footpath.”
What the Employee Alleged
More alleged that TCS had withheld his salary for several months. He said he reported back to the company’s Sahyadri Park campus in Pune on July 29, 2025, but found his employee ID inactive on company systems like Ultimatix. He also claimed that while HR assured him the salary issue would be resolved, no payments were made.
TCS Issues Clarification
In a statement to Hindustan Times, TCS confirmed that they are in touch with the employee and are working to resolve the issue. The company clarified that his payroll had been suspended due to unauthorized absence, which aligns with standard internal procedures.
“This is a case of unauthorized absence. In accordance with standard procedure, payroll was suspended during that period. The employee has now reported back and requested reinstatement,” a TCS spokesperson said.
TCS further stated that accommodation has been arranged for the employee, who is no longer staying outside the office. The company added that they are supporting him to resolve the situation in a “fair and constructive manner.”
