Pune, 25 November 2025: The Pune City Traffic Department carried out a special three-day campaign targeting drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol. The initiative, aimed at curbing accidents caused by drunk driving, took place between 21 and 23 November 2025.

During the campaign, traffic authorities set up 30 checkpoints across various locations in the city. Each point was strategically selected to monitor vehicular movement and identify offenders. The operation involved rigorous inspection of drivers suspected of consuming alcohol before driving.

As a result of the campaign, a total of 178 drivers were booked for violating traffic laws. Legal action, including fines and further proceedings as per the Motor Vehicles Act, has been initiated against these offenders. Authorities emphasized that such measures are crucial for maintaining road safety.

The Pune Traffic Department has issued a strong appeal to citizens, warning that driving under the influence is a serious offense. The department highlighted that alcohol-impaired driving significantly increases the risk of road accidents and endangers lives.

Officials urged residents to strictly adhere to traffic rules, emphasizing personal responsibility in ensuring the safety of themselves and others on the road. 

Regular vigilance and compliance with road safety regulations can prevent tragedies and enhance overall public safety.
