Pune Traffic Police Conduct Special Drive Against Triple-Seating On Two-Wheelers, ₹16.18 Lakh Collected In Fines

The Pune City Traffic Police have carried out a special enforcement drive against triple-seat riding on two-wheelers across the city, following the directions of Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and under the guidance of senior officials from the Eastern Regional Division.
The drive was conducted at major roads, busy intersections, and high-traffic zones in Pune, with the objective of strengthening road safety, curbing traffic violations, and reducing accidents caused by overcrowding on two-wheelers.

During the drive, action was taken against 1,454 triple-seat two-wheelers. A total of 2,144 challans were paid on the spot, and an amount of ₹16,18,400 was recovered and deposited with the government. Overall, 5,921 challan actions were carried out as part of the special operation.
The enforcement campaign saw active participation from 30 traffic divisions of the Pune Traffic Department and officers and personnel from 44 police stations across the city.
The Pune Traffic Police have issued a public advisory, stating that triple-seat riding on two-wheelers is a punishable offence under the law and significantly increases the risk of accidents, posing a serious threat to the lives of riders as well as other road users. Citizens have been urged to follow traffic rules and adopt safe and disciplined driving practices.
Officials said that such special enforcement drives will continue regularly to ensure smoother traffic flow and to reduce accident rates in Pune. The Pune City Traffic Police have appealed to citizens to cooperate with authorities and contribute to making city roads safer for everyone.
