Pune traffic police issues diversion ahead of Eid-E-Milad

Pune: The Pune Traffic Police has issued alternate traffic arrangements for October 1, 2023 (Sunday) on the occasion of Eid-E-Milad.

As per information provided by Pune traffic police, to avoid traffic jams during the procession and ensure safe and smooth traffic, for essential service vehicles (e.g. fire brigade, police vehicles, ambulances, etc.) is issuing orders regarding traffic stop, and diversion as follows:

The main procession route:

The main procession starts from Manushah Masjid, 482 Nana Peth Pune and the procession goes to Sant Kabir Chowk, A.D. Camp Chowk, after turning left to Bharat Cinema, Padmaji Police Chowk, Nishant Cinema, Bhagwandas Chawl, Chudaman Talim Chowk, Muktifauz Chowk, turning left towards Qureshi Masjid, which is behind John Muhammad & towards Babajan Darga Chowk, Behind Chaarbavdi Police Chowk towards Shivaji Market to Central Street Road – Bhopale Chowk – From opposite Gaon Kasab Masjid, Muktifauz Chowk to Pulgate Chowk, turning left on Mahatma Gandhi Road (15th August Chowk), Mohammed Rafi Chowk – Kohinoor Hotel Chowk – Mahaveer Chowk – Turning left on Sachapir Street to Mahatma Phule Chowk, Sant Kabir Chowk, Nanachaavdi Chowk – Alpana Cinema to Hamjekhan Chowk. The procession will end at the square by turning left on the Maharana Pratap Road and going straight to Govind Halwai Chowk, Subhanshah Darga Chowk – Cityjama Masjid Shukrawar Peth.

Parking of all types of vehicles is prohibited on the above-mentioned procession routes and within 100 meters of the sub roads and lanes leading to this route. Also, parking of all types of vehicles on both sides of the road on the main route of the procession is being banned for the duration of the procession. The motorists/citizens should not use the above-mentioned procession route at the time of the procession.

Alternate Routes

· Traffic going from Rasta Peth Power House to Sant Kabir Chowk will be diverted via Rasta Peth, Samarth Police Station, Quatergate route during the commencement of the procession

· After reaching Sant Kabir Chowk, the procession will proceed from the Quarter gate to Sant Kabir Chowk &, without letting the motorists go through these routes, the motorists can use the cycle colony, turn left to Samarth Police Station, further Rasta Peth, Power House, K.E.M. Hospital & Apollo Cinemas

· Until the procession reaches Sant Kabir Chowk, vehicles coming from Nana Peth through Lakshmi Road will be diverted through Nana Chaavdi Chowk. Those vehicles will go to their destination via Rasta Peth Power House

· After the procession reaches Padmaji Police Chowki Chowk, it will be diverted through Sant Kabir Chowk

· After the procession will turn from A.D. Camp Chowk to Bharat Cinema Galli, instead of allowing traffic from Padmaji Police Chowki Chowk to A.D. Camp Chowk, traffic will be diverted to Quarter Gate (Old Motor Stand)

· While the procession will be between Padmaji Chowk and Nishant Cinema, the traffic will be diverted to Camp High School

· While the procession will be proceeding towards Chudaman Talim Chowk, the vehicles going towards it will either go straight through Pullgate or through Old Motor Stand

· Traffic coming from Y Junction at Camp towards MG Road will be stopped at Y Junction and diverted to Khane Maruti Chowk. (Diversion will be done from 9:00 am after seeing the traffic situation at the place)

· From ISKCON Mandir Chowk, traffic going towards Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Statue, Arora

· Tower will be closed. (Diversion to begin from 9:00 am in view of the traffic situation at the place)

· The traffic going to Qureshi Masjid from Mufti Fauj Chowk will be closed and the said traffic will be diverted to Chudaman Talim

· Traffic going from Volga Chowk to Mohammed Rafi Chowk will be stopped and the said traffic will be diverted directly to Indira Gandhi Chowk via East Street Road

· The traffic going from Mahaveer Chowk to Sarbatwala Chowk will be closed and the said traffic will be diverted to MG Road and to Naaz Chowk.

· Traffic going from Sarbatwala Chowk to Mahaveer Chowk will be stopped and the said traffic will be diverted towards Tabut Street Road

· Traffic going from Babajan Chowk to Bhopale Chowk will be stopped and the said traffic will be diverted to Shivaji Market

· Traffic going to Qureshi Masjid from Babajan Chowk will be stopped and the said traffic will be diverted to Nishant Talkies

· Traffic from Shivaji Market to Center Street Chowki and from Kolsa Galli to MG Road will be closed as required

· While on the road from Govind Halwai Chowk to Subhan Shah Dargah, motorists coming from Gotiram Bhaiyya Chowk to Govind Halwai Chowk should use Gotiram Bhaiyya Chowk -Gadikhana – Phulwala Chowk and then head straight through Maharana Pratap Road to Mithganj Chowk

· As sections of Lakshmi Road will be closed for all types of vehicles while the procession is between Sonya Maruti Chowk to Santarjiwala Chowk to Madarchilla Masjid, motorists should take an alternate route from Nanapeth Police Station, turn right to Daruwala Bridge, turn left to Devjibaba Chowk, straight to Phadke Houd Chowk – Jijamata Chowk. Also, the motorists going south via Lakshmi Road should proceed via Hamjekhan Chowk, Maharana Pratap Road to their desired destination

· Motorists coming from Hadapsar should take the route of Bhairobanala Chowk, Lullanagar Chowk, Gangadham Chowk, Wakhar Mahamandal Chowk, Seven Loves Chowk and Arjun Road from Lashkar area via Bhairobanala Chowk, Sopanbagh Chowk, Turf Club Chowk should go to desired destination via Arjun Road & Lashkar area. Also, the vehicles coming to Mammadevi Chowk will not be allowed to go to the Golibar Maidan but they should go to the desired destination via Mammadevi – Kammad Hospital – Wanowrie Bazar – Lullanagar -Gangadham Chowk, Vakhar Mahamandal Chowk

· Motorists coming from Swargate and Nehru Road should use the alternative road Seven Loves Chowk, Wakhar Mahamandal, Gangadham Chowk, Lullanagar Chowk, Bhairobanala Chowk

Apart from this, to join the procession, devotees coming from Mundhwa, Kondhwa, Fatimanagar, Hadapsar, Wanowrie, Khadki, etc. should park their vehicles parallel to the east side of the road from Khanya Maruti Chowk to Indira Gandhi Chowk on East Street. While the main procession will pass through Pulgate Chowki Chowk, next to Camp Education Girls School, at that time, one should join the main procession at the very end, not entering the main procession anywhere.

Procession Route Leading From Khadki Area

From Asudkhana Chowk to Hole Road, Navin Talim Chowk, Gopi Chowk, Tanga Stand Chowk, Crown Hotel, Tikaram Chowk, D. R. Gandhi Chowk, Maharashtra Bank Chowk – Shivaji Putla Chowk – Jama Masjid – Khadki Bazar after which Visarjan will take place.

Two-wheelers, four-wheelers, tempos, and handcarts should not be allowed on the procession route. Action will be taken against such vehicles.

Traffic on the above-mentioned procession route will be closed or diverted for a short period of time as required. Also, as soon as the procession moves forward, the traffic on the earlier routes will be restored.

However, citizens and motorists should avoid coming on the above-mentioned routes and should not park their vehicles on the procession route. Also, citizens are requested to cooperate with the police by using alternative routes.
