Pune: Untreated Sewage Flows Onto Road And Nallah Near Raheja Sterling In NIBM Annex, Residents Raise Alarm
Pune, December 19, 2025: Residents have raised serious concerns over untreated wastewater flowing onto public roads and into a nearby nallah near the newly constructed Raheja Sterling building, creating health and environmental risks in the area.
According to local resident Jaymala Dhankikar, sewage water from multiple housing societies and buildings is being discharged through an open chamber located on the front side of Raheja Sterling, near an English-medium school. The wastewater reportedly flows onto the road every morning and evening before draining into the nallah below. Videos and photographs shared by residents show dirty water collecting along the wall adjoining the Raheja premises and eventually flowing into the stream.
A similar issue has been reported on the rear side of the Raheja Sterling building, where sewage from societies and buildings uphill is allegedly entering a chamber connected to the drainage line. Residents claim that wastewater from these lines flows down from the cement road above and accumulates near the building premises before reaching the nallah.

Additionally, it has been stated that labour toilets set up along the Raheja Sterling side generate waste and dirty water, which is reportedly collected daily by a suction vehicle. However, residents allege that drainage water continues to flow untreated into the nearby nallah, worsening sanitation conditions in the area.
Locals have demanded urgent intervention by civic authorities to inspect the chambers, stop the flow of untreated sewage on public roads, and ensure proper drainage and wastewater treatment, particularly given the proximity of a school and residential buildings.
