A hotel in the Wanowrie area of Pune has come under scrutiny after a social media post alleged that customers were charged an additional “gas surcharge” on their food bill.
According to the post shared by a citizen identified as Nitin Jagtap, he was billed around ₹1,110 for his meal during a visit to the hotel. Along with the standard charges, an extra ₹100 was added as a “gas surcharge.”
When questioned about the additional fee, hotel staff reportedly stated that the surcharge was due to difficulties in procuring gas cylinders, which has increased their operational costs.
The claim has sparked discussions online, with many users questioning the legality and transparency of such additional charges. No official statement has yet been issued by the concerned authorities regarding the matter.
