Pune Weather Update: IMD Issues Four-Day Alert For Rain And Thunderstorms, Temperatures Set To DropÂ
Pune, June 24, 2026: After a brief pause in rainfall on Monday following the official onset of the monsoon, Pune witnessed a strong return of showers on Tuesday, bringing much-needed relief to residents troubled by humid and warm conditions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms, lightning, and intermittent rainfall over the next three to four days and has issued a Yellow Alert for Pune district.
The monsoon arrived in Pune on Monday, leading to a noticeable drop in both maximum and minimum temperatures across the city. Over the past two days, the maximum temperature has fallen by nearly 5 degrees Celsius. On Tuesday, Pune recorded a maximum temperature of 31°C and a minimum temperature of 24.5°C.
Cloudy skies prevailed throughout Tuesday morning, with light showers reported in several parts of the city around 2 pm. Drizzles continued intermittently during the day before rainfall intensified around 7:30 pm, bringing moderate to heavy showers to many areas, including central Pune. Light rain continued late into the night.
According to the IMD, Pune and surrounding areas are likely to experience a slight further drop in temperatures on Wednesday. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 30°C, while the minimum temperature may remain close to 24°C. The weather is expected to remain partly cloudy during the afternoon and evening, with the possibility of light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
From Thursday onwards, temperatures are likely to decline further. The maximum temperature is expected to settle around 28°C, while the minimum may drop to 23°C. The IMD has forecast partly cloudy skies along with light rainfall, thunder, and lightning activity during the afternoon and evening hours.
Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious during periods of thunderstorm activity and to monitor official weather updates as monsoon conditions strengthen across the region.
