Goa Paragliding Accident
In a tragic paragliding mishap at Querim in North Goa on Saturday, a 27-year-old tourist from Maharashtra and a 26-year-old pilot lost their lives. Police identified the tourist as Shivani Dabale, a resident of Pune, and the pilot as Suman Nepali, a native of Nepal.

The incident reportedly occurred between 4:30 pm and 5:00 pm at the Querim plateau. According to police, Shivani was on a tandem flight with Suman as the pilot when one of the cables is suspected to have snapped mid-flight. This caused the paraglider to lose balance, leading to a collision with rocks and a fatal crash from a significant height as Reported by Indian Express

Both victims suffered serious injuries and were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival. “We have informed the families of the deceased. A probe has been initiated, and inquest proceedings are ongoing,” said a police officer.

Adventure Sports Operator Booked
The police have booked Shekhar Raizada, the owner of the adventure sports company conducting the paragliding activity, under Section 105 of the BNS Act, 2023 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder).

In a statement, the police alleged that the accused knowingly allowed the paragliding activity without obtaining proper permission from the relevant authorities. “The accused intentionally permitted the tourist and the pilot, both without a valid license, to carry out paragliding from a height, fully aware that his act would endanger life,” the statement read.

Further investigations are underway.
