A tragic incident occurred at a water park in Pune, where a young woman lost her life. What was meant to be a joyful family outing turned into sorrow due to one misstep.
The incident took place on the evening of Friday, April 18, at Rajgad Water Park located in the Warve Khurd area on the Pune-Satara highway. The woman, identified as Taral Arun Atapalkar (28), a resident of Salesia Park, Narhe, died after falling from a height of 30 feet while ziplining as reported by Maharashtra Times.
A case of accidental death has been registered at Rajgad Police Station based on a complaint filed by her uncle, Nandkishor Shripati Atapalkar (50).
Iron Stool Slipped, Causing Fatal Fall
Taral, who was accompanied by her family, went ziplining around 5:30 PM. While trying to attach her safety harness to the upper railing, her hands couldn’t reach the hook point. She stood on an iron stool to secure the rope, but it slipped suddenly, causing her to fall 30 feet to the ground. She was rushed to a private hospital in Nasrapur, where doctors declared her dead.
Police have visited the scene, and Sub-Inspector Tukaram Rathod is investigating the matter under the guidance of Inspector Rajesh Gawli.
Questions Raised Over Safety Measures
The incident has raised serious concerns about safety protocols at water parks. With summer vacations underway, the number of visitors at such parks has increased, especially in areas like Bhor and Velhe. The tragedy has prompted questions about the adequacy of safety measures, equipment, and staff responsibility.

Ziplining is a recreational activity where a person glides from one elevated point to another along a steel cable using a pulley. In this case, the thrill-seeking activity turned fatal for the young woman.
