Raju Narayana Swamy, born on May 24, 1968, is a distinguished officer of the Indian Administrative Service, known for his strong stance against corruption and his role as a whistleblower. He achieved the top rank in the IAS examination of 1991 and is also a recipient of the Kerala Sahitya Academy Award for his contributions to literature.

He is also a prolific author, having written 34 books, and has enjoyed a vibrant career within the IAS, undergoing 20 transfers throughout his 22 years of service.
Dr. Raju Narayana Swamy is a distinguished IAS officer recognized for his unwavering commitment to combating corruption. His persistent efforts to address illegal land transactions, confront real estate developers, and challenge political bureaucrats stem from what he describes as his ‘stubborn’ disposition, particularly when faced with situations he deems ‘unjustifiable.’
Mr. Swamy was born in 1968 into a middle-class family in Ulloor, Thiruvananthapuram. He consistently performed exceptionally well in his studies during his school years, earning numerous awards. In 1989, he graduated with a B.Tech. in Computer Science from IIT Madras, achieving the top rank. Although he received a full scholarship to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), he chose to pursue a career in Civil Services instead. He excelled in the examination and joined the Kerala Cadre in 1991.
Besides, He achieved the top position in the State of Kerala for the SSLC examination in 1983 and also ranked first at the university level in the Pre-degree examination in 1985. In 1989, he continued to excel.
While his career has been accompanied by political controversies, he has garnered significant backing from the general public.
Narayanaswamy has occupied various positions and has faced multiple penalties for his efforts to reveal corruption. His campaign against corruption commenced early in his professional journey. His steadfast opposition to corruption has drawn the ire of bureaucrats and politicians alike. Over his 27 years of dedicated service, he has experienced no fewer than 22 transfers. In fact, Narayanaswamy was compelled to take a leave of absence from his role as managing director of MarketFed and to assist junior officers.
His dedication to fighting corruption has earned him several honors, notably the esteemed Fourth IRDS award from the Institute for Research and Documentation in Social Sciences (IRDS), a civil society organization located in Lucknow.
