Following the recent passing of industrialist Ratan Tata, details from his will reveal a thoughtful distribution of his assets, worth over ₹10,000 crore. Tata’s half-sisters, Shireen and Deanna Jejeebhoy, along with trusted staff members and his beloved German Shepherd, Tito, are among the primary beneficiaries. In a touching gesture, Tata’s will emphasizes “unconditional love” for Tito, who will remain under the care of his longtime cook, Rajan Shaw. Tata’s butler of over thirty years, Subbaiah, is also provided for in recognition of their close relationship.

Shantanu Naidu, Tata’s mentee, receives special mention in the will as well. Tata relinquished his stake in Naidu’s venture, Goodfellows, and waived Naidu’s education loans, reflecting his strong support for Naidu’s endeavors.

The will also designates Tata’s shares in Tata Sons to the Ratan Tata Endowment Foundation (RTEF), a charitable trust that will continue to support philanthropic activities. Tata’s legacy within the Tata Group remains influential; Tata Trusts, which holds a 66% stake in Tata Sons, exerts indirect control over the conglomerate and appoints a third of the Tata Sons board members, granting them special veto rights.
