RBI Cancels Registration of 35 NBFCs for Non-Compliance – Take a Look at the Full List

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has taken decisive action by revoking the Certificate of Registration (CoR) of 35 non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) during December 2025. This move, carried out under Section 45-IA (6) of the RBI Act, 1934, highlights the central bank’s ongoing efforts to ensure that financial institutions meet statutory and supervisory requirements.

With the cancellation of their registrations, these entities are no longer allowed to operate as NBFCs, meaning they cannot engage in lending, investment, or other financial intermediation activities under the RBI’s regulatory framework. The step reflects the regulator’s commitment to maintaining a robust and compliant non-banking financial sector.

The cancellations were issued on four separate dates: December 09, December 19, December 23, and December 31, 2025. The affected companies were found to no longer meet the conditions required for holding a valid CoR, and in some cases, had already ceased NBFC operations.

Alongside these cancellations, the RBI accepted voluntary surrender of registration from 16 other NBFCs. Such voluntary exits are generally linked to corporate restructuring, mergers, amalgamations, or a strategic decision to exit the non-banking financial business.
