The Maharashtra government has launched a special Diwali Bonus for women under the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana. This initiative aims to provide financial support to women beneficiaries, allowing them to celebrate Diwali without financial worries.
As part of the bonus, the state government will release the October and November installments in advance. Eligible women will receive Rs 3,000 in October to help with Diwali shopping. The bonus will be directly credited to the bank accounts of registered women under the scheme, who have already received previous installments. According to an ET report, more than 94,000 women have already received the advance payments in their bank accounts.
The Ladki Bahin Yojana provides financial aid to women in Maharashtra, with eligibility criteria requiring applicants to be women aged between 21 to 65 years, permanent residents of the state, and have a family income of less than Rs 2.5 lakh per annum. Married, unmarried, abandoned, divorced, and destitute women are eligible.
Applicants need to submit documents such as an Aadhaar card, bank account details, caste and residence certificates, age proof, ration card, income proof, and more. Yellow and orange ration cardholders are exempt from providing income proof.
The deadline for submitting applications for the scheme has been extended to October 15, allowing more women to apply for the financial support.
