Pune Police Arrest Second Accused in Bopdev Ghat Gang-Rape Case from Uttar Pradesh

The Pune Police’s Crime Branch has made a significant breakthrough in the Bopdev Ghat gang-rape case, arresting the second accused from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. The 27-year-old accused was taken into custody on Monday morning.

This arrest follows the apprehension of the first accused, Chandrakumar Raviprasad Kanojia, 20, from Dindori in Uttar Pradesh on Friday. The identity of the second accused has not been disclosed as part of the ongoing investigation.

A team of Pune Police traced the second accused to Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, where he was apprehended. The police will obtain a transit remand for the accused from the local court and bring him to Pune for further investigation.

During police custody, Kanojia confessed to his involvement in the gang-rape case. He revealed that all three accused had fled after the crime but returned to Pune, leading to his arrest.
