Pune, June 19, 2026: A 25 year-old man tragically lost his life after falling into a deep gorge while trekking at Lohagad Fort in Pune district’s Maval taluka. The incident occurred on Thursday morning when he was visiting the fort with his fiancée to celebrate her birthday.
The deceased has been identified as Ketan Vishal Aggarwal, a resident of Lodha Belmondo Society in Gahunje. He is survived by his parents, sister, uncles, and cousins. His father, Vishal Aggarwal, is a well-known builder, and Ketan was also associated with the construction business.
According to police officials, Ketan and his fiancée had travelled to Lohagad Fort by car and began trekking as part of the birthday celebration. While walking near a cliff edge, he reportedly lost his balance and plunged nearly 400 feet into a gorge. He sustained severe injuries and died at the scene.
Upon receiving information about the accident, a team from Lonavala Rural Police reached the spot and sought assistance from the Shivdurg Mitra Rescue Team. Rescue personnel spent nearly three hours retrieving the body, which had become trapped in dense vegetation within the valley.
The body was brought down to the base of the fort and later handed over to family members. His last rites were performed in Nigdi amid an atmosphere of grief and mourning.
Family sources said preparations for Ketan’s wedding were underway, with a grand ceremony planned in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Relatives from both families had already begun making arrangements for the upcoming celebrations.
