Pune: The environmental impact assessment authority of the Maharashtra state government has given the green light to the Maan Mahalunge town planning scheme. On Friday, officials from the Pune Metropolitan Development Authority (PMRDA) announced that the revised plan has been approved by the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) authority of the environment department.

Initially, there were concerns about the scheme’s plots being located in a flood-prone area, which resulted in the relocation of the plots. The proposed town planning scheme covers an area of 250.50 hectares and received preliminary approval from the state government in 2019.

PMRDA Commissioner Rahul Mahiwal highlighted the significance of obtaining environmental clearance for the project. It is noteworthy that the town planning scheme was showcased as a model at the Magnetic Maharashtra meet in 2018.

Deputy Collector Ramdas Jagtap has informed that the arbitrator has concluded the hearings after considering suggestions and objections and will promptly present it for final approval. Stressing the importance of securing approval from the environment department, Jagtap explained a presentation was made to the EIA, and subsequently, the state government has granted full authorization. Additionally, the authority has proposed the development of roads within the project.
