Viman Nagar, July 18, 2025: In a bid to address mounting complaints from air passengers, AeroMall authorities managing Pune Airport pickups have announced strict measures against cab drivers who repeatedly refuse rides. Offending drivers may soon face temporary bans from entering the AeroMall pickup zone.

For months, fliers have reported being left stranded after landing, with cab drivers allegedly rejecting trips based on destination preferences or prioritizing long-distance fares.

Crackdown on Indiscipline
Y.S. Rajput, Vice-President of AeroMall, confirmed the move, stating, “We’ve received numerous complaints about cab drivers declining rides that don’t suit their personal convenience—especially short trips or non-lucrative routes. This behavior disrupts passenger flow at a crucial transit hub and cannot be tolerated.”

AeroMall, in coordination with cab aggregators, is compiling a list of repeat offenders. Drivers will first receive warnings, but continued violations could lead to suspensions from the pickup zone for several days or weeks. “We are also leveraging geotagging technology to track refusals in real-time,” Rajput added.

Focus on Passenger Support
The initiative aims to enforce discipline among drivers and improve the passenger experience. To assist stranded passengers, AeroMall plans to introduce a dedicated helpline number prominently displayed across the terminal for immediate support.

“We hope this step sends a clear message to cab drivers: follow protocol, or risk losing access to airport rides,” Rajput said.
