Ever since the pandemic hit our country and the lockdown was imposed several people were left without homes. But many good samaritans came forward to help people in need. Be it home cooked meals, work, clothes, grocery kits, medicines, arranging beds, etc. People from across the city came forward to help people in every possible way.

This pandemic hit the senior citizens quite hard, as they were confined within four walls, with very little or no help at times.

But, Daljeet Raizada, a resident of Kalyani Nagar and likeminded people from her friend circle took that brave step in helping out people.
Daljeet Raizada, who formed a senior citizens group seeing that many people were facing difficulty in sourcing food, medicines, and other help.

She told Pune Pulse that in the first lockdown there were many senior citizens who faced severe difficulty. I was told by many that there are many people who need help in sourcing medicines, food and other things. That’s when I decided and slowly people connected. There are many who are willingly helping me. Thus, the network grew and now many people are helping people in need in their own areas. I am extremely happy to see many youngsters joining in. They are so full of energy and always ready to help. We all have to work together to sail through this pandemic. This work would have been impossible without my husband, Amarjeet Singh Raizada’s help.

Dr Nidhi Agarwal, a wellness coach and nutritionist from Viman Nagar said, “I have been working for people in need for the last 15 years. With this initiative my help widened. We can just offer a few words of support and people feel so relaxed. I am also supporting people by giving them advice on post Covid care on health and diet. There are so many things which people can do in their own circle of friends and family.”
