In a shocking incident, an 11-year-old boy died after being bitten by a cat while playing with his friends. The deceased is identified as Shreyanshu Krishna Pendam.
As per the information, Pendam was playing with his friends in the Ukhali village of Nashik on Saturday evening. A cat suddenly attacked him and bit his leg while he was playing. Shreyanshu returned home and narrated the incident to his mother. After some time he felt nauseous and started vomiting. His parents brought him to Lata Mangeshkar Hospital. However, doctors declared him brought dead. From there, the body was shifted to AIIMS Hospital for post-mortem. The police were informed and it registered a case of sudden death. The exact cause of death will be known after the post-mortem report, said the police department.
This is a rare case of death from a cat bite. After being bitten by the cat, Pendam panicked and started vomiting. It is possible that the vomit may have entered the respiratory tract, choking him which led to his death or he might have been bitten by some other venomous animal.
Although leg injuries are minor, damage to blood vessels in vital organs can lead to death. It is difficult to say what exactly caused the death. A medical officer said that the exact cause will come out after the autopsy report.
