Earlier this year, there was a lot of talk about Ranveer Singh possibly landing the main role in the movie version of Shaktimaan. This news caused a stir online because Mukesh Khanna, who played Shaktimaan in the famous superhero TV series, wasn’t too keen on the casting choice. Mukesh criticized Ranveer, mentioning his controversial nude photo shoot, and expressed that an actor with that kind of ‘image’ wasn’t suitable for the superhero role. In a recent interview, Mukesh revealed that Ranveer met with him and tried for three hours to persuade him to let him play Shaktimaan in the movie adaptation. Mukesh shared with Bollywood Thikana that Ranveer sat with him for three hours, but Mukesh didn’t see the right qualities on his face to portray Shaktimaan.
He felt Ranveer looked unreliable like he might deceive someone, even though he acknowledged Ranveer’s acting skills. Mukesh appreciated Ranveer’s enthusiasm but remained firm in his opinion against his casting as Shaktimaan. Interestingly, it seems like many people on social media support Mukesh’s viewpoint, as fans urged him not to agree to Ranveer playing Shaktimaan when a post about the interview surfaced on a paparazzi page.
In the comment section of this Instagram post, one social media user shared, “Please Don’t Ruin Shaktiman ”, whereas another protested: “Bhai aisa jurm mat karo ..childhood hero hai apna ye ager shaktiman banega to Kamlak me banuga .” Agreeing with Mukesh’s opinion of Ranveer, an internet user shared, “Baat toh shi kahi mukhesh khanna ne….Even I can’t see ranveer playing shaktimaan cuz he just doesn’t look like it….like doesn’t have it…..Hrithik would be better even Suraj Pancholi can do Shaktimaan”, while another comment read: “Sir ha matt krna plss .” A fan even claimed, “Mukesh Khanna has a point, Ranveer Singh has that looked of a playful mischievous individual and not the one that Shaktiman had.”
