SNBP, Rahatani Hosts Successful ‘Space on Wheels’ Exhibition for Budding Scientists
Rahatani, October 22, 2024 — The Space on Wheels exhibition, a unique and educational initiative aimed at inspiring students and spreading awareness about space science, concluded with great success today at SNBP, Rahatani. The exhibition, organized collaboratively by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Vigyan Bharati (ViBha), provided a dynamic and immersive experience, taking students on an awe-inspiring journey through India’s significant achievements in space exploration.

This mobile exhibition featured a wide array of space-related exhibits, designed to give students a closer look at the intricacies of space science, from satellite technology to India’s notable space missions, including the iconic Mars Orbiter Mission and Chandrayaan series. The initiative focused on sparking curiosity among young minds and cultivating a deeper interest in the field of space science.
The Space on Wheels exhibition at SNBP, Rahatani, attracted a massive response, with 2,026 students from various schools actively participating. Schools that participated included Arise School, which brought 200 students; D Y Patil School, with 26 students; City Pride School, with 250 students; SNBP CBSE, which saw the largest participation with 1,200 students; SNBP State Board, with 200 students; and Cambridge, contributing 150 students. Each group of students enthusiastically engaged with the interactive exhibits, learning about India’s space achievements and gaining insight into future missions like Gaganyaan, India’s manned mission to space.
The event was honored by the presence of several esteemed guests. Dr. Kaustubh Vamanrao Sakhare, the Chief Guest of the event and Secretary of ViBha Paschim Maharashtra, was present, playing a key role in overseeing scientific activities across seven districts. He was joined by other distinguished members of Vigyan Bharati, including Amol Deshpande, a member of the ViBha governing committee for Western Maharashtra; Akshay Kelkar, from the coordinating team for Vidhyarthi Vidnyan Manthan (VVM); and Geeta Balagangadharan, who contributed greatly to the event’s success. Their involvement underscored a strong commitment to promoting science education and outreach among students, especially in the realm of space exploration.
In addition to these dignitaries, the leadership team from SNBP, Rahatani, was also present to support the initiative. Dr. DK Bhosale, Chairman of SE Society, attended the event along with Dr. Jayashree Venkatraman, Director Principal of SNBP International School. Dr. Sonal Srivastav, Principal of SNBP School & Junior College, also graced the event, along with other prominent faculty members, including Ms. Laxmi Vinod, Principal of SNBP World School, and Mr. Yogesh Mishra, Vice Principal of SNBP International School.
The closing ceremony, held today, was a fitting conclusion to the highly successful exhibition. The ceremony included a variety of performances by students, inspirational speeches by the key guests, and a heartfelt tribute to the late Ratan Tata, whose legacy in promoting scientific endeavors and industrial excellence continues to inspire the nation.
