SPPU Pune Warns Affiliated Colleges To Fill Vacant Faculty Positions Or Face Action

SPPU Calls For Proposals To Launch New Courses and Research Centres for 2026-27
Pune, March 6, 2025 – The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) has issued a stern directive to its affiliated colleges in Ahilyanagar, Nashik, and Pune districts, instructing them to immediately fill vacant positions for principals, directors, and professors. The circular, released on March 5, 2025, emphasizes the necessity of appointing permanent faculty members to ensure the smooth functioning of academic institutions.
Despite a previous notice issued on June 11, 2024, many colleges have failed to initiate the hiring process. The university authorities have now warned that failure to comply will lead to the suspension of online services (BOD) for the defaulters, along with punitive action under the provisions of the University Act.
The directive highlights that the number of teaching and non-teaching staff in affiliated colleges must meet the norms prescribed by the university and state government. Adequate staffing is crucial for effective teaching, training, and research. Compliance with these regulations is mandatory for all affiliated institutions to maintain academic standards.
SPPU has urged colleges to act promptly and ensure the appointments are made at the earliest to avoid administrative consequences.
