Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) will introduce a new postgraduate (MA) course on ‘Vision and Nation Building,’ focusing on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The course will begin in the 2025-26 academic year. The announcement was made on the 395th birth anniversary of Shivaji Maharaj.
The objective of the course is to spread awareness about Shivaji Maharaj’s visionary ideals and their relevance in modern nation-building. It aims to provide a deeper understanding of his leadership, administrative vision, and strategic policies.
This two-year program will cover the historical background of Shivaji Maharaj, his battles, and governance strategies. Students will learn about his approach to national security, military tactics, and his influence on Indian nation-building. The curriculum will also explore the geographical, social, and political landscape of the Deccan in the 17th century.
The course has been designed to study Shivaji Maharaj’s leadership style, which inspired people to break free from servitude and contribute to nation-building. It will analyze how his vision shaped the process of Indian nationhood.
SPPU officials believe that this course will offer valuable insights into Shivaji Maharaj’s contributions and help students understand the foundations of governance, strategy, and leadership.
