Pune: The examination pattern for classes X and XII is set to undergo a significant change. These students will now have the opportunity to take exams twice a year, with one session occurring before Diwali and the second session in March.
Consequently, the examinations for class X and XII students will be conducted twice a year, similar to the approach for primary and secondary students. The National Education Policy has announced the implementation of substantial changes in the upcoming academic years of 2024-25 or 2025-26.
Additionally, the class 10 and class 12 exams are crucial milestones in students’ academic journeys and can be a major source of concern for both students and parents.
As per the information provided, students failing in these exams take drastic steps like suicide or dropping out of school, highlighting the need for alternative opportunities. In light of this, the Union Education Ministry has chosen to incorporate this change through the new educational policy.
Seeking input from parents, teachers, students, and the general public, the ministry has requested feedback on board exams, syllabus, and 10 other related matters. The ministry is keen on understanding public opinion on whether board exams accurately assess students’ true abilities. The implementation of the new system is scheduled within a two-year timeframe.
