State Excise Extends Liquor Timings For Festive Season Ahead Of Christmas And New Year Eve (Representational Image)
With Christmas and New Year’s Eve around the corner, the state government has extended liquor shop timings until 1 a.m. and allowed bars, clubs, and restaurants to stay open until 5 a.m.
According to a notification from the State Excise Department:
– Liquor shops can operate until 1 a.m. on December 24, 25, and 31, instead of the usual 10:30 p.m.
– Wine shops and FLBR-II license holders (selling beer and wine for takeaway) also have a 1 a.m. extension.
– Hotels and clubs in Pune can now serve alcohol until 5 a.m., up from the current 1:30 a.m.
The notification clarifies that district collectors can deny these permissions if public peace or law and order are at risk.
