Success Story: Mother-Daughter Duo Transforms Rs.5,000 Investment into a Lakhs-Earning Company
From a modest beginning to a thriving online toy business, Extrokids captures the hearts of parents and children alike.
S. Haripriya and her mother, S. Banu, have turned a mere ₹5,000 investment into a profitable venture, Extrokids, specializing in educational toys. This online platform receives over 15,000 orders each month, generating significant revenue and catering to parents seeking engaging and developmentally beneficial toys for their children.
The inspiration for Extrokids arose when Haripriya, a mother of two, faced the challenge of keeping her children entertained and educated, especially after the birth of her second child in 2017. She recognized a common struggle among new parents: the quest for toys that stimulate learning while minimizing screen time. Starting from her home in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, Haripriya began her entrepreneurial journey, initially selling pre-loved toys and books. However, after conducting thorough research, she shifted her focus exclusively to toys that enhance motor skills and cognitive development.
Despite facing numerous challenges, including juggling her business with parenting, Haripriya persevered. She gradually expanded her toy collection, now boasting over 500 different products, and has successfully delivered to over 500,000 satisfied customers. A turning point came when she posted a video demonstrating how to use one of her toys, featuring her mother. The video garnered over 60,000 views, significantly boosting her business’s visibility and success.
Today, Haripriya enjoys a monthly income of around ₹3 lakhs, with toy prices ranging from ₹49 to ₹8,000. Her story is a testament to how a small investment, paired with determination and a keen understanding of market needs, can lead to remarkable success.
