Sugar mill case : ED conducts raids at 9 places in Pune

Pune: National Congress Party (NCP) leader and former minister Hasan Mushrif’s nine offices in Pune are being raided by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday morning, said officials.

Considering the situation, heavy police force have been deployed at various locations including Salisbury Park,Sinhagad Road,Prabhat Road,Hadapsar area,Ganesh Peth area of the Pune city.

Sources also confirmed that the offices and residences of businessmen Chandrakant Gaikwad, Vivek Gavhane and Jayesh Dudhedia, are also being raided simultaneously.

These raids are believed to be to find out any financial transactions of these people with NCP leader Hasan Mushrif. The teams of ED are investigating documents to find out the nature of their financial transactions. According to media reports, the ED had previously conducted raids at Gaikwad’s residence in January this year.

ED officials said the agency had initiated action after registering a Prevention of Money Laundering Act  case based on the complaint filed by the Registrar of Companies, Pune, before a local court.

BJP leader Kirit Somaiya, who has been pursuing the matter against Mushrif for a long time, on Wednesday claimed that the Sar Senapati Santaji Ghorpade Sakhar Karkhana , a sugar factory, had received crores of rupees from certain defunct entities. M/s Rajat Consumer Services Pvt Ltd, owned by the Mushrif family, is one of the shareholders of the factory.
