Surge in demand for Gold and Silver coins featuring Ram imprint ahead of Ayodhya consecration ceremony
Jewelers are experiencing a significant increase in demand for gold and silver coins adorned with the imprint of the Ram temple and Ram Darbar in anticipation of the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya on January 22.
In Kanpur alone, jewelers have received orders for 5,000 coins depicting the Ram temple and Ram Darbar (Ram with Lakshman, Sita, and Hanuman), along with 1,000 statues of Lord Ram in various sizes. Some jewelers are also offering small gold coins featuring replicas of the Ram temple.
The price of Ram Darbar silver coins ranges from Rs 900 to Rs 25,000, depending on the weight.
The consecration ceremony has reportedly generated a substantial business of about Rs 800 crore in Lucknow, according to estimates from jewelers.
As the wedding season kicks off in mid-January, coins featuring the Ram temple imprint have become a highly favored choice for gifting. Pushpendra Jaiswal, the general secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Jewellers’ Association, highlighted the strong demand for silver Ram Darbar in the market.
Pankaj Arora, president of the All India Jewellers and Goldsmiths Federation, emphasized that the consecration ceremony has significantly boosted business, estimating around Rs 800 crore in the city.
With the onset of the wedding season, coins featuring the Ram temple have emerged as a preferred and auspicious gifting option.
