Individuals with dimples have this muscle split into two sections, known as bifid zygomaticus major. One section connects to the mouth’s corner, while the other attaches to the skin. When we move our face, this muscle pulls the skin inward, resulting in dimples.
The genetic basis for dimples is often seen as a dominant trait. This implies that if one parent has dimples, their children may also inherit them. However, this isn’t guaranteed. Some kids may develop dimples over time, while others might be born with them only for them to fade later. The great thing is that dimples do not have any adverse health effects.
