The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has clarified that toll waivers for vehicles heading to Konkan for the Ganesh festival will only apply to those with official passes. Despite the Maharashtra government’s announcement of a toll exemption for festival-bound devotees, NHAI emphasized that vehicles without designated passes will still be required to pay tolls from September 5 to 19.

The toll exemption is valid for Konkan-bound vehicles traveling on the Mumbai-Bengaluru, Mumbai-Goa national highways, and state highways. However, the waiver will only apply to vehicles with passes issued by the Regional Transport Office (RTO) and traffic police departments.

In a statement, NHAI said, “Toll booths at Khed Shivapur, Anewadi, and others have been instructed to grant toll waivers to vehicles with authorized passes for the Ganesh Festival. Those without these passes will have to pay the regular toll fees.”

The passes are necessary to take advantage of the toll exemption, ensuring that only eligible vehicles receive the benefit during the festival period.
