Tragic Accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway, One Dead Four InjuredÂ
A terrible accident happened on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway around 8 PM on Saturday. A high-speed container truck crashed into a worksite where safety railings and sheets were being installed. This crash caused a fire that burned the container.
One worker, Wikikumar Kuldev Yadav, a 29-year-old from Bihar, died immediately. Four other workers were hurt in the accident.
Work is being done to widen the road and tunnel between Dongargaon Wadi and Aundhe Khurd. The installation of safety sheets and railings starts at 8 PM every day. Last Saturday, a speeding container truck with the TN 39 ES 4489 license plate lost control and crashed into the work site. Yadav was killed, and four others were injured. Some workers were able to escape before the truck hit, which helped prevent further injuries.
Residents are frustrated because the Lonavala Pavana nagar Road bridge is closed for repairs, forcing them to use a narrow road next to the expressway. The high speed of vehicles in this area leads to frequent accidents and traffic jams. Residents demand that the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation and other companies finish the bridge work quickly and reopen it.
The accident caused a traffic jam, but the Lonavla Rural Police and local villagers came to help clear the road. They moved the dead and injured to get medical help. After the accident, various teams, including the Devodoot system, Delta Force, IRB team, and Lonavala Municipal Council fire brigade, worked together to put out the fire.
