Union Minister Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu inaugurated the UDAN Yatri Cafe at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport during its centenary celebrations. The initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Airports Authority of India (AAI), aims to address the long-standing issue of overpriced food and beverages at airports.

To mark the airport’s 100-year milestone, a special postal cover, souvenir coin, and coffee table book were unveiled alongside a photo exhibition and tree plantation ceremony.

The UDAN Yatri Cafe offers a budget-friendly menu featuring items such as water bottles and tea for just ₹10 each, and coffee, samosas, and a daily sweet priced at ₹20. This curated, cost-effective menu ensures quality dining options for travelers, enhancing their airport experience.

Union Minister Kinjarapu hinted at plans to expand these budget-friendly cafes to airports nationwide. The launch follows Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha’s recent raising of the issue of inflated airport food prices during Parliament’s winter session. Chadha welcomed the cafe as a significant and positive step forward.
