Pune, June 25, 2025: Tired of being ignored, citizens of Undri, Mohammadwadi, NIBM Annexe, and Pisoli have launched an online petition demanding immediate action from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Maharashtra Urban Development Department. Even after seven years of being included in PMC limits, these fast-growing areas are still struggling without proper roads, water supply, sewage systems, and civic amenities.

Despite paying regular property taxes since the 2017 merger, residents say they have received little in return. There is no formal Development Plan, no street lights in many areas, broken or private roads, and garbage collection is irregular. Parks, PMC health clinics, and public halls are missing too.

One of the biggest concerns is the worsening water crisis. Families are forced to depend on costly private water tankers, even though large volumes of water from Khadakwasla dam are released every year. Residents point out that in 2023 alone, 1.10 TMC of water was released, yet they still don’t have pipelines in place to supply drinking water to their homes.

Through the petition, citizens are demanding:

  • A formal Development Plan
  • A sustainable water supply network
  • Proper roads, sewage and drainage systems
  • Regular waste collection
  • Street lighting in all localities
  • Parks and community centers
  • Removal of electric poles blocking roads
  • PMC’s accountability and citizen participation

Local groups like the Mohammadwadi-Undri Residents Welfare Development Foundation are leading the campaign. Residents say this is not just a demand for services—it’s a plea for dignity and equality.

“Seven years is enough. We want justice, not neglect,” said Sunil Koloti, who started this petition.  The petition can be joined by clicking on https://www.change.org/p/demand-basic-civic-amenities-in-undri-mohammadwadi-nibm-annexe-resident-taxpayers?recruiter=1274358166&recruited_by_id=ea0542a0-21f9-11ed-9bd6-4f1fadd338b6&utm_source=share_petition&utm_campaign=share_petition&utm_term=starter_onboarding_share_personal&utm_medium=whatsapp
