Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate 23 completed projects worth Rs 10,972 crore and lay the foundation stone for 13 new projects worth Rs 3,344 crore in Varanasi.
Among the key announcements is the Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata Expressway, a transformative six-lane project that aims to significantly reduce travel time between Varanasi and Kolkata.
The Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata Expressway aims to reduce travel time between Varanasi and Kolkata from 15 hours to 9 hours. PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for Package I of the expressway, a 27-kilometer road with a green belt, costing Rs 1,317 crore, including land acquisition.
Key Points
– The National Highways Authority of India has designated the expressway as NH319B, connecting several cities to lower logistics costs and boost industrial activity.
– The 610-kilometer expressway will traverse through four districts in Bihar and Jharkhand before entering West Bengal via Purulia district.
– It includes a proposed five-kilometer tunnel in the Kaimur hills to cross the Sone River in Tilauthu, Sasaram, and enter Aurangabad via the Grand Trunk road.
– The estimated date of completion of this project is 2026.
