Vegetable Prices Drop As Rains Boost Arrival In Pune Market
The arrival of vegetables in the Pune market has increased significantly due to the recent rains, leading to a drop in prices of various vegetables. Okra, gavar, cucumber, brinjal, moringa, flat beans, and common beans have seen a decrease in prices, bringing relief to consumers.
According to senior trader Vilas Bhujbal, the arrival of fruits and vegetables has increased, with 100 truckloads arriving at the wholesale market in Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Market Yard yesterday. This includes 8-10 tempos of green chillies from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Gujarat, and 8-10 tempos of cabbage from Gujarat and Karnataka.
From the Pune Division, 700-800 sacks of Satari ginger, 7-10 tempos of okra, and 5-6 tempos of guar have arrived, among other vegetables. The increased arrival has led to a decrease in prices, with okra prices dropping by 20% and guar prices by 15%.
However, leafy vegetable prices have seen a slight increase due to increased demand. Coriander, fenugreek, dill leaves, spring onions, white goosefoot, mint, and green sorrel have seen a price rise of 10-20%.
In the fruit market, papaya and lemon prices have increased, while chicoo and guava prices have fallen. The rates for pineapple, pomegranate, sweet lemon, orange, watermelon, muskmelon, and custard apple have remained stable.
The increased arrival of vegetables and fruits is expected to continue, bringing relief to consumers and stabilizing prices in the market.
