Viman Nagar Women’s Council aims for change in the neighborhood

What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”
This is exactly what the residents of Viman Nagar, members of Viman Nagar Women’s Council, have been doing for the last few years, bringing a good change in their neighbourhood. 
It is a group where the residents meet. exchange ideas, opinions, offer help to the needy and become a strong support of each other. Founded by Bobby Karnani, the group has more than 2000 members in it working successfully for bringing change in their neighbourhood. 

Speaking to Pune Pulse’s Editor Renuka Suryavanshi, VNWC founder, Bobby Karnani shares the aim and dream of VNWC. 
She says, “Aim of VNWC is to bring all women together and empower them to realise their potential and achieve their dreams. This organisation’s main objective is to give equal platform to all the women residents of Viman nagar to showcase their talents and bring out the best potential in her. “

How does VNWC work ? 
The main objectives are: To empower women by creating business opportunities To connect women and provide a platform to showcase their skills, by organizing various activities to raise awareness amongst women about their rights.

VNWC was established on 10 September, 2017. Any woman who is /was resident of Viman Nagar/Pune can become a member. 

Activities organised : 
VNWC regularly organised medical camps, where doctors from Viman Nagar give free medicines, consultation to senior citizens and needy people. The aim of the camps is not just to provide health but to form an environment where the whole community gets sensitized about health issues. The camps also include counselling for adolescents, screening facilities and entertainment programmes with health messages. VNWC cares for Women’s health, We regularly Organize free fitness sessions for women every Sunday morning in the refreshing atmosphere, in Joggers park like Zumba, Yoga etc. 

Safety, as well as the smooth flow of traffic  is very important. VNWC conducted a traffic drive to spread awareness about traffic with the help of traffic police of Viman Nagar which received an overwhelming response from residents of Viman Nagar, and from Police Commissioner also. Personal hygiene drive under the name of #Padman and donated packets of sanitary pads to the maids of various societies and needy ladies.   
“In the lockdown period too, we donated several ration kits, medical kits, and arranged help for people in need. For residents who are in need of help our members are just a call away,” adds Karnani.
