Viral: An Engineer’s Tragic Fall; Bengaluru Man Turns to Begging After Personal Tragedies
Once an engineer, now battling homelessness and despair on Bengaluru’s streets.
A man, who claims to have been an engineer in a tech company, has been found begging on the streets of Bengaluru, drawing attention to his tragic plight. His story, shared on Instagram by user @sharath_yuvaraja_official, highlights the devastating impact of personal loss and addiction.
From Engineering to the Streets
The man, seen wearing a red T-shirt in the videos, recounted that his life took a downward spiral after the loss of his parents, which led him to alcoholism. He now begs for survival, often seen in different parts of Jayanagar, including the 8th and 4th Blocks. Despite attempts by bystanders to offer help, he reportedly refuses assistance.
Philosophical Ramblings and Lost Potential
In the videos, the man speaks about profound topics such as meditation, David Hume’s philosophy, Einstein’s theories, and the brain’s hippocampus and amygdala. He also mentioned having visited Frankfurt in 2013, showcasing remnants of his past education and global exposure.
“Actually, religion, caste, all those things… see what did I become, finally. I need to read more, I need to read more,” he laments in one video, reflecting on his downfall.
Efforts to Help and Challenges
Sharath, the individual who shared the videos, has since attempted to seek help for the man. He contacted an NGO and recorded a conversation with a doctor, who highlighted the challenges of providing assistance. According to the doctor, intervention by the police is necessary for any NGO to take him in, as he shows signs of severe mental health and substance abuse issues.
A Stark Reminder of Vulnerabilities
This man’s story serves as a poignant reminder of how personal loss, mental health struggles, and addiction can strip individuals of stability, even those with promising careers. As efforts continue to assist him, his case underscores the importance of accessible mental health care and community support systems for individuals at risk of homelessness.
For now, his fate remains uncertain, but his story resonates as a call to action for compassionate intervention and systemic change.
