Viral video: Passenger exposes Uber driver’s ‘this’ careless behavior while driving cab
Concerns about passenger safety have been raised by a recent incident in Mumbai, where a cab passenger recorded an Uber driver as the driver was watching videos on his phone while driving through congested streets. The passenger posted the video on social media to voice his concern about the driver’s careless actions while they were traveling.
As per further information from the X handle of the passenger Venkat “I am not feeling safe to travel in Uber these days as the drivers are driving dangerously. This driver is watching videos on his mobile by putting his phone on his lap. This happened in Mumbai. What will you do to stop this?”
The video instantly became viral & has gained more than 1, 60,000 views so far.
Many netizens have enthusiastically expressed their opinions by commenting on the video.
An X user said “Well, just ask the driver to stop the vehicle and get down. How will complaining to Uber help? These are contract drivers who are paid for the ride. They are not taught by Uber how to drive. Uber is a tech company that owns a tech marketplace to connect a driver (who might even be the owner of the car) with a customer, that’s it. Even the RTA/RTO who gave this driver a license will not take responsibility for his behaviour. Of course Uber might cancel his contract after this video proof but it ain’t going to stop such incidents, the onus is mostly on the passenger to be diligent.”
An X user shared a horrifying experience “Yesterday, I experienced a serious incident where the Uber driver abruptly drove away as I was disembarking, resulting in me being thrown off the vehicle and the car subsequently running over my leg. Learnt from another driver that no punitive measures would be taken.”
An X user says “I have seen auto drivers watching reels and checking comments and replying to comments in Bangalore. I was holding on to my dear life.”
