WATCH | Bike-Car Collision on Empire Estate Flyover in Pimpri-Chinchwad; Helmet Saves Rider’s Life
Pune – A biker in Pune’s Chinchwad area had a narrow escape after a high-speed collision with a car, thanks to his helmet. The dramatic accident, caught on CCTV in the Empire Estate locality, showed the two-wheeler ramming head-on into a car before the rider was thrown off and hit the ground hard.
Despite the violent impact, the biker survived with only minor injuries because he was wearing a helmet. The footage shows the speeding bike losing control while a car was turning, leading to a heavy crash that damaged both vehicles. The bike was completely wrecked, and the car’s bonnet was badly crushed.
Locals rushed to help moments after the accident and found the rider conscious but shaken. The incident happened around 4 p.m. on Thursday under a flyover and has since gone viral on social media, sparking fresh discussions about road safety and reckless driving.
Eyewitnesses said the biker had been speeding and appeared to have lost control. Both parties left the scene after a brief conversation, and no serious injuries were reported.
Pimpri-Chinchwad traffic police reminded citizens of the importance of helmets. “Helmets save lives. There’s no excuse not to wear one,” an officer said, urging riders to always wear protective gear properly.
The reminder comes as road safety remains a serious concern. Earlier this week in Nagpur, a student was killed when a bus hit her from behind while she was returning home from tuition in the Khapri area. CCTV footage showed the bus striking her moped, throwing her under the vehicle. She died on the spot, sparking protests and renewed calls for stricter enforcement of traffic laws.
