June 14, 2026: An Indian Air Force (IAF) AN-32 transport aircraft crashed while attempting to land at the Jorhat Air Force Station in Assam on June 13, resulting in the death of five Air Force personnel. A video of the tragic incident has since surfaced online, capturing the aircraft moments before the crash.

According to the IAF, the aircraft was on a routine sortie when the accident occurred at around 10 a.m. during its landing approach at the Jorhat airfield. The exact cause of the crash has not yet been determined.

The Indian Air Force expressed deep sorrow over the loss and identified the deceased as Squadron Leader Prashant Singh, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar, Sergeant Jitendra Sharma, Agniveer Vayu Khemaram Kumawat, and Agniveer Vayu Danish Alam.

Paying tribute to the personnel, the IAF said they made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. The mortal remains of Squadron Leader Prashant Singh, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar, and Agniveer Vayu Danish Alam are being transported to their hometowns in Dehradun, Gaya, and Bhojpur for their final rites.

Following the accident, the Air Force ordered a Court of Inquiry to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. The inquiry will examine all aspects of the flight, including technical, operational, and maintenance-related factors, to determine what led to the tragedy.

The AN-32 is a twin-engine military transport aircraft widely used by the Indian Air Force for logistics, cargo transport, and operational missions, particularly in remote and high-altitude regions across the country.
